There's a massive move towards oral history in the fact based film market. Oral History is having first-hand accounts by those in any part of history.  In this instance, members of the 486th Bomb Group give first-hand accounts of their mission memories and reminisce about life on and around the Sudbury Airfield in Suffolk.  The airfield is also known as the 'Acton Airfield' and the 'Waldingfield Airfield'. 

"We wanted to make an interview film of a selection of Bomb Group members to help keep their memory alive within our rural community.  We trimmed all the interviews to everything we couldn't leave out and then let the stories dictate the film.  In all, the interviews take up over 80% of the production which is exactly what we wanted, it was fantastic to hear the stories these guys had to tell and a great exercise in restraint for us to leave this as solely an exercise in Oral History accounting and let the guys tell their story" Director Dan Clarke

Humble Productions worked closely with a local WWII reconstruction crew to create new footage of airfield life.

"We loved every minute of the production; working with the reconstruction crew was immense.  We had a day with them and managed to get a whole host of shots to use as cutaways in the production.  We were ecstactic when we got the chance to interview eight members of the Bomb Group, we know there were thousands in the 486th during the war, but to have some great accounts from a handful of the Group was fantastic and hopefully great for the enthusiasts of Sudbury" Producer David Ruddock

Humble Productions are currently in pre-production for a history based DVD of our local airfield. This time we'll move away from the Oral History aspect and, instead, give a brief history of the airfield. This will include a brief history film, then and now shots of landmarks associated with the airfield, further developments of local residents memories, photo galleries, 486th members diary entries from the time and loads more.
